Links

Bored already? Well here is a list of the greatest film maker websites out there. If you want your site on this page then it must be a no/low budget film site with loads of great info about your films or film making. We wont be putting anything else on this page for the time being...

If you want to link to us (Please? Anyone?) then you might want to use our lovely banner above, but feel free to use a bog-standard text link. To put a working (and full size) link banner on your site insert the following html code in to your site:

MATT HAWKINS ONLINE

Over the last few months this site has become my favourite amateur film making website, mainly because Matt's forum has suddenly grown in popularity and it's probably the best way of finding out film making information on the entire web (long overdue, 'cus most film making forums are as crap as hell!). Matt himself was also kind enough to pop down and see our new film when it had it's premiere screening, so he seems to put in a lot of time and energy in to helping out his fellow film makers. This site also features several tutorials, and a lot of VCD info which many people will find extremely useful.

SICK INDIVIDUAL PRODUCTIONS

Ah, this is what we want! Some good old home made action! This is the kind of stuff we'd all love to do! There is quite a lot of info on the site, but I'm told this'll grow anyway. It looks like (and I hope so) that there will be tutorials in to how they do their pyrotechnics so we can all risk our lives in the name of entertainment. Fantastic! Also check out their new film "The I-Team, Project Fubar" which is just great.

DANGEROUS DERK PRODUCTIONS

Another great bunch of no-budget film makers. This site doesn't feature a lot in the name of behind the scenes info and tutorials (although these areas are growing) there is plenty of stuff to download including their most recent films, and it seems like they'll have a good load of their films online in the near future. Can't wait! And it looks like we'll be working on a lil' something Chemical Ali related with them in the very near future =D

FOILED PRODUCTIONS

Great little site this. The section dedicated to their first feature film 'Foiled' contains one of the best production diaries on the net. There is also a lot of information about their other films too which look amazing! And don't forget to watch their new film 'Fluffy the English Vampire Slayer' while you're there ;) Oh, and ignore the above picture, it doesn't really do them any justice!

MIDNIGHT PICTURES

Dedicated to making horror films set in Ireland! These guys have won all kinds of awards so you can expect top quality stuff from them. There isn't too much behind the scenes info (they're working on it) but you can watch most of their films, either by buying them on tape or watching them for free online. There is a lot of info on this site and is probably one of the most popular independent film making sites out there. Unfortunately updates are pretty few and far between although the creators post a lot on their forum.

DEAD GOOD

One of my personal favourites. These guys are amazingly dedicated to low budget film making. So dedicated in fact that they've made regular visits to the Cannes Film Festival to find money for their productions! And their budgets show, which can only be a good thing. Their last film Demagogue is now avaliable on video (my copy is in the post!), but it doesn't look as good as Rhino Bitch (now avaliable to download). This site was updated regulary once upon a time, but now it looks pretty abandoned (although it was updated the other day for the first time in a few years, literally!)

SPAM

Many people wont find much here but I think the diary is great. It's follows the story of a journalist who started making a low budget horror film for a Computer Arts magazine tutorial, but decided to finish off the movie in his spare time. It's a shame his CA tutorials aren't online because they were great too. Oh and by the way, this place never updates and it's likely it will never be updated again. But still definately worth a visit for the diary.

405 THE MOVIE

Despite being a low budget film it was created by two hollywood special effect guys, so you know that their short film about an aeroplane making an emergency landing is going to be pretty spectacular. It's also a good example of how fast technology is changing, because this film couldn't of even been made as a big budget feature film until recently. The site has once again been abandoned which is a shame.

RECON 3

(NOTE: Link finally updated after site was moved ages ago!) Also stateside, Recon 3 is a 20min movie based in the Star Wars universe. Another example of a no budget film maker creating movies that would've been impossible to make until recently. The site features an amazing amount of behind the scenes info and even has the finished product avaliable to download. It's just a shame that when this guy finished the movie he abandoned the site completely (I've since discovered that the guy who made this had a baby when production finished, so he's forgiven for not updating the site!).

BREATHING SPACE FILMS

Not the original 'Breathing Space' film I had originally linked to but still features the same film makers. This site is home to their new film 'Taunted'. It's a nice little site and does feature some interesting behind the scenes info but it's not enough in my opinion! Oh and for some reason the whole sites image based (even the text) so it takes an age to load for dial up users.

ABDUCTION

This must be one of the most professional looking no-budget movies that I've seen on the net! Filmed with professional equipment and edited on an AVID editing system, the industry standard. They've even got effects in their film too, but none of your CGI lark. They have gone for the 'model composited on top of footage' effects (the same technique used in Independence Day), which looks great! But yet again the site has been abandoned by the looks of things.

ORNAMENTS

My jaw literally dropped when I saw this one! Before I watched it all I knew was that it was made by a kid on a home PC, so I wasn't that excited about seeing it. But believe me, once you see this in action you'd easily mistake it for a Pixar short! The direction is great, and the animation is spot-on! This guy's even timed everything with the music! Nice one...
